Vesper Peak Summary + Strategies
Current Popularity: Low
Type: In & Out
Vesper Peak is one of the many peaks located along the Mountain Loop Highway. Vesper Lake is also accessible via this route. I would recommend stopping by the lake on your way up/down. The terrain is much easier than most peaks in this area; the class never exceeds a 3. If you’re looking for a harder hike in the area, I would recommend Gothic Peak. If you’re looking for a scramble, Del Campo is a great option.
Vesper Lake

Vesper is a great peak for hikers who want to get into scrambling. The main route is only a class 2, but other routes to the top can be taken that are easily class 3. The rocks are mostly large boulders, but there are plenty of loose small rocks. The route at the top also required some path finding, but over time the route has become more prominent.
As for all trails along the Mountain Loop Highway, the trail is inaccessible in the winter. The trailhead is about 12 kilometres from the road’s closing point, so a multi-day expedition would be necessary during the winter.
